The ROGID project will demonstrate how robot guards can add value to high-level security operations for companies when detecting intruders.
Automation in high-security environments
In the ROGID project, Lorenz Technology together with the French video analytics firm Foxstream are aiming to develop a robot guard solution for the Danish branch of Little Green Pharma. The robot guard should act as an intruder detection system, detecting and locating any intruders who have managed to penetrate the perimeter protection and barriers.
As one of the partners in the project, Lorenz Technology is determined to expand its current system to develop a suitable solution for this specific scenario and making it possible to integrate it into the existing security operations center.
Project background
In today’s world, high-level security environments are equipped with various sensors feeing into one or multiple security operations centers (SOCs). Security guards or operators monitor video feeds and react to notifications based on sensor input and video analytics. Additionally, security guards patrol the perimeter by foot or by car, in which they conduct i.e. fence inspections and facility checks. This asks for a high level of responsibility for the guards, as well as having reliable, long-term staff on board. The security industry, along with many other industries, have been facing a labor shortage, impacting the efficiency of the current set-up.
Since security and liability are the first priorities in high-level security areas, the industry is looking out for smart systems, which help automate and digitalize certain tasks. By merging the experience and technology between Lorenz Technology and Foxstream, the project partners will use robots and video analytics address the problems faced by the industry.
Utilizing robots in security
The market for robot guards is still at an early stage. While development is promising, the security industry indicates that existing systems do not fulfil the required security needs. The project partners are taking on the challenge to develop a modular solution, which can be customized to meet the strict security requirements. The partners are positive that a suitable solution will result from the project.
